We left the city at 5:30 on friday for Base Camp. We navigated our way through the convoy of weekend warriors heading up the 400 and found ourselves starting our weekend right with beverages on the patio of the Bala Inn with our lovely and talented hostess Eve Northmore. We discussed the plan of attack for the weekends project and found ourselves standing in the main house of Base Camp dodging drunken marker attacks and wound up in a comfy and warm bed about 4AM (thank you very much for housing us).

Waking up to rain on the day you plan to photograph talented female riders is never a good sign. But spirits stayed high and everyone worked as a team to get it done. The guys pitched in to help drive the sea doos (thanks guys!) …. “anything for breasts” was the motto.

A massive thank you is owed to the ladies Eve Northmore, Emily Pattison and Leslie Sparkes for showing us how it was done Base Camp styles AND for getting on their boards on a cold and rainy day. The shots are great and our photo project is well under way. Expect to see sneak peeks prior to our event in 2011 and to see the full gallery show at Steam Whistle in 2011.

The dust has finally settled after one awesome whirlwind. I’m so stoked to announce our $4,500.00 donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Truly this is a mark of a great community achievement and one that we can all feel pretty good about! Never have hang overs been so worth it!!

Speeches were made, prizes were won, food was eaten and beer was consumed. Everyone seemed to have a great smile on their face and this is definiately evident in the photos (check out the photo section to see if you are up there). The night would not have been possible without the committment and dedication of our fabulous presenting sponsors, auction sponsors, and community partners. The generosity was outstanding and definitely proves my theory that the action sport community is one of the most supportive, if not THE most supportive, communities there is.

The night was amazing and that is totally thanks to the wonderful vibe everyone was putting out. It was great to see old faces and new ones out to do their part and raise awareness for breast cancer. Generally speaking our community it pretty young, so young that the reality of the big 1 in 3 statistic has yet to hit. The Canadian Cancer Society let the Canadian public know that one in three Canadians will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. Whether it is breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer or prostate cancer … I’m glad we have lent a hand to some very deserving people and hope that our efforts can make a difference in lives of others.

Thanks so much everyone for the great support. I can’t wait to start planning next years event. We have some great ideas going around! We received some great feedback already, but we totally want to hear what you thought about the night, so please drop us a line!

much love. The BABC Crew

Have you ever seen the Italian Job? You know the movie with gorgeous south african model turned actress and that guy from goodwill hunting and the MINI COOPERS!?!? We all know who the real star of this flick was, and it wasn’t Charlize, it was totally the Mini Coopers. This film inspired a generation of new appreciators of the classic car and its revamped modern style (and its capability to be driven through tunnels and jump over stuff…)

Though we don’t think participating in a major heist is a good way to enjoy a mini cooper (not at all actually) … we do feel pulling up to a weekend skate, surf, wake or snow sesh in one of these hot Mini Coopers is definitely a great way to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

How do you do that you are asking? Well, we have some pretty amazing friends at Mini Downtown, located at 11 Sunlight Park Road, they are donating a free weekend rental of a Mini Cooper for us to raffle off! Included in this is a sweet Mini luggage set (and a plethora of other sweet prizes)… hopefully this inspires you to take off for the weekend and enjoy some beautiful spring weather doing your sport of choice.

If you miss out on this AMAZING prize, then stop by their dealership to hook yourself up with a test drive. Good news for you east-siders, they are opening up a new dealership in April at 20 Sunlight Park Road at Broadview and Eastern. So see them on the web at www.minidowntown.ca or call Charles Nguyen (the raddest man in the automotive industry) at 416-623-MINI (6464).

With playfulness and intelligence, they (we) champion positive lifestyles, creative thinking, and environmental sustainability.” Les Ettes finds a home in Europe and are making their way to Canada very soon, this means you’ll probably be the only one in Toronto with these perfumes! To get you stoked, they have given their four scents to help make our auction smell awesome! Flor-ette, scent of Anne Flore Marxer, Want-Ette, Sol-Ette and Love-Ette (my personal favourite) are up for grabs. If you aren’t the winner of this great prize, no worries, they have given samples for everyone who comes out on the 24th!
