Thanks Everyone!!

Written by Emily on April 16th, 2010

The dust has finally settled after one awesome whirlwind.  I’m so stoked to announce our $4,500.00 donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  Truly this is a mark of a great community achievement and one that we can all feel pretty good about!  Never have hang overs been so worth it!!

Speeches were made, prizes were won, food was eaten and beer was consumed.  Everyone seemed to have a great smile on their face and this is definiately evident in the photos (check out the photo section to see if you are up there).  The night would not have been possible without the committment and dedication of our fabulous presenting sponsors, auction sponsors, and community partners.  The generosity was outstanding and definitely proves my theory that the action sport community is one of the most supportive, if not THE most supportive, communities there is.

The night was amazing and that is totally thanks to the wonderful vibe everyone was putting out.  It was great to see old faces and new ones out to do their part and raise awareness for breast cancer.  Generally speaking our community it pretty young, so young that the reality of the big 1 in 3 statistic has yet to hit.  The Canadian Cancer Society let the Canadian public know that one in three Canadians will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime.  Whether it is breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer or prostate cancer … I’m glad we have lent a hand to some very deserving people and hope that our efforts can make a difference in lives of others.

Thanks so much everyone for the great support.  I can’t wait to start planning next years event.  We have some great ideas going around!  We received some great feedback already, but we totally want to hear what you thought about the night, so please drop us a line!

much love.  The BABC Crew

Have you seen the Italian Job?

Written by Emily on March 18th, 2010

Have you ever seen the Italian Job?  You know the movie with gorgeous south african model turned actress and that guy from goodwill hunting and the MINI COOPERS!?!?  We all know who the real star of this flick was, and it wasn’t Charlize, it was totally the Mini Coopers.  This film inspired a generation of new appreciators of the classic car and its revamped modern style (and its capability to be driven through tunnels and jump over stuff…)

Though we don’t think participating in a major heist is a good way to enjoy a mini cooper (not at all actually) … we do feel pulling up to a weekend skate, surf, wake or snow sesh in one of these hot Mini Coopers is definitely a great way to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

How do you do that you are asking?  Well, we have some pretty amazing friends at Mini Downtown, located at 11 Sunlight Park Road, they are donating a free weekend rental of a Mini Cooper for us to raffle off!  Included in this is a sweet Mini luggage set (and a plethora of other sweet prizes)… hopefully this inspires you to take off for the weekend and enjoy some beautiful spring weather doing your sport of choice.

If you miss out on this AMAZING prize, then stop by their dealership to hook yourself up with a test drive.  Good news for you east-siders, they are opening up a new dealership in April at 20 Sunlight Park Road at Broadview and Eastern.  So see them on the web at  www.minidowntown.ca or call Charles Nguyen (the raddest man in the automotive industry) at 416-623-MINI (6464).

Auction Item Number Seven: Nikita Outerwear

Written by Emily on March 17th, 2010

Today I had the absolute pleasure of basking in the beautiful sunshine at the Nikita showroom in Toronto.  The beautiful ladies @ Nikita hooked us up with an amazing snowboard jacket and pants combo!  The Jacket is the Cadillac (a super rad caddie) of women’s snowboard apparel made for women who ride and the pants are a very sought after waterproof tech denim fabric.  It looks amazing!  If that wasn’t amazing enough it is combo-ed with a great nikita hoodie!

This auction item is perfect for girls who ride, care about outer wear that is going to stand up to everything you’ll throw at it, and want to look awesome while shredding!  Make sure to check it out.

Auction Item Number Three: Oakley Sunglasses, Commit

Written by Emily on March 11th, 2010

As if the Dangerous model from Oakley wasn’t enough we offer you Commit!  Again, this is part of Oakley’s commitment to Young Survival Coalition.  The ladies had this to say about Commit

Oakley has the honor of serving countless female athletes who commit themselves to the highest standards of personal achievement. For them, Oakley created CommitTM, a performance-driven design that helps sports enthusiasts find their limits and just as easily exceed them. Designed exclusively for women, CommitTM reinvents everything the world knows about comfort, fit and style with the kind of bold beauty that celebrates the power of the female form.

The unique interchangeable lens design lets you adapt to changing light and optimize performance in virtually any environment. Oakley enhances each lens with a permanent coating called Oakley HydrophobicTM, a marvel of science that repels dust while maintaining a smudge-resistant barrier against finger-prints, lotions and sunscreens and even repels water to prevent streaks and sheens from corrupting your vision. The frame is accented with the signature pink ribbon design on the stem, overlaid with the Oakley icon.”

These sunglasses are as gorgeous as they are commited to helping core athletes perform at their best whether you are on the tennis courts, in the ride to conquer cancer, walking the dog in the beaches, or getting your luge on these will keep you from squinting!
